Water polo thrillsWomen's water polo was on Olympic debut at Sydney 2000 and it certainly made a splash. In the gold medal match rivals USA and Australia looked to be heading into overtime before 22-year-old Yvette Higgins scored an extraordinary goal with less than one second remaining. Jumping JaiJai Taurima challenged the Cuban world champion Ivan Pedroso in a long jump final to remember. Each competitor improved with their next jump, enthralling the 105,000-strong crowd into an extraordinary night of competition.
