French RugbyParis 1900: Frantz Reichal, a member of the French Rugby team prepares for a throw in at a line-out. Rugby has been included in the Olympic programme on four occasions, in 1900, when France beat both Germany and Britain; in 1908 when the Australians beat Britain; and in 1920 and 1924 when somewhat surprisingly the USA were successful.

Aussie Shooting GoldParis 1900: Donald Mackintosh (centre) was Australia's first shooting gold medalist when he won the game shooting event. He also won bronze in live pigeon shooting in Paris.

Kraenslein's HistoryParis 1900: Alvin Kraenzlein of the United States is the only person to win four gold medals in individual events on the athletic programme of the Games. At Paris he won the 60m, the 110m hurdles and the 200m hurdles together with the long jump.
